Soya Bean
Soya bean is a leguminous crop that is grown in many countries across the world. Soya bean is a very important global crop because of its chemical composition of over 36 % protein, 30 % carbohydrates, dietary fibre, vitamins and mineral salts.
The US accounts for 32% of world total production, Brazil 31% and Argentina 18%. Nigeria is the largest producer of the crop in sub-Saharan Africa with production ranging from 600,000 – 1,000,000 tons annually. The seeds have variety of sizes and colours such as brown, black, blue, green and yellow.
Soybean grows well across the country, especially in Benue, Taraba, Kaduna, Plateau, Niger, Nasarawa, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kwara, Bauchi and Borno states.
